Italian Margarita w/ Amaretto Variations

Making an Italian centric holiday meal for friends this weekend and was thinking of serving Italian margaritas as the cocktail for the night. For those that don't know, an Italian margarita is the same as a classic margarita except amaretto is swapped for Cointreau. I've served them before to mixed results as amaretto seems to be a polarizing liqueur.

I'm wondering if anybody has made any Italian margarita variations that may still highlight the amaretto but cut down on it's sweetness?

TIA!
